For over 30 years the UW Badminton Club has provided organized badminton play, camaraderie, coaching, and tournaments to University students, faculty and staff. Club members practice at various times in the UW Natatorium (the "Nat"), which has as many as 12 high-quality badminton courts available. The primary focus of the club is to enable competition: the club provides high grade shuttlecocks at a very low cost and encourges tournament play by way of generous reimbursements. To join the club, fill out the membership form and the consent form and submit them to a club officer. Dues are $20 per year for students, and $30 per year for faculty or staff. There is a $5 discount after January 1st. Memberships expire on August 15th of each year.
"The game of badminton is deceptive. The basic techniques are easy to learn and the equipment is easy to handle, providing immediate enjoyment. As experience is gained, however, badminton becomes a mentally and physically stimulating sport where dexterity, agility and stamina are much more important than size and power. Badminton can be intensely competitive, or simply a vigorous lifetime sport." Paul Malischke
