Nat Gym Resurfacing

Rec Sports has announced that all Nat gyms will be closed for resurfacing from August 10th through 24th 2007. (Last year the gyms where available before the announced re-opening date.)

The Club will have practice on Tuesday, May 15th and Thursday, May 17th from 6:30 until 7:30 PM. See you there. (There may even be some folks playing on Saturday May 19th from 10 AM through 1 PM?)

Club President Caught Smoozing with Madison Major?

Mayor Dave Cieslewicz announced a new city initiative Friday that aims to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 100,000 tons by 2011. It appears that our Club President, Dan Mehr, was somehow involved. A full sized picture is available here.

2007 Spring Break Club Hours

Club time during spring break will be Tuesday April 3rd and Thursday April 5th from 6:00 through 7:45 PM. Please plan accordingly.

2007 Wisconsin Open Results
April 2 2007
Nick Schafer and Norman Ong advanced to the finals in doubles. Dave Murray edged out Steve Rader 10-21, 21-18, 25-23 to win the 35-and-over singles. Fred Coleman and Steve Rader lost in the 35-and-over doubles final. About a half dozen other Club members also played but their results are unknown.

2007 Midwest Closed Results
March 2007
Hao Wang and Lenke Robos won the C Mixed Doubles. Lenke Robos and Natasha Sardanovski lost the finals of B Women's Doubles in three games. Eric Chu and Hao Wang advanced in the finals of B Men's doubles. In A Men's Singles, Norman Ong got to the finals of the back draw after beating Nick Schafer in the semi-finals. In D Men's Doubles, Fred Coleman and Steve Rader advanced to the finals. Steve Rader beat--I kid you not!--three kids under 12 years old to advance to the semi-finals of B Men's Singles.

2007 Midwest Intercollegiate Badminton Tournament

The UW Badminton Club will host the 2007 Midwest Intercollegiate Badminton Tournament during April 28th The and 29th at the Natatorium. Entries must be postmarked by April 20th. The entry form can be found at here.

Norman Ong won the B Singles after beating Nick Schafer 17 & 19 in the finals.

2007 Badger Winter State Games Results

Norman Ong won the Open Men's Singles; Nick Schafer advanced to the finals. Sushma Iyer and Natasha Sardanovski won the Open Women's Doubles. Nick and Norman won the Open Men's Doubles. Dave Murray won the Senior Singles after beating Steve Rader the finals--Dave also with the Master Singles and Senior Doubles with Andy Mould. Norman Ong

David Murry won the 60+ Men's Singles and advanced to the finals of the 40+ Men's Doubles. Steve Rader advanced to the finals of the 40+ Men's Singles Consolations.

Nick Schafer and Norman Ong advanced to the A Doubles finals, where they lost a very hard fought match in three games.
