Preamble
The University of Wisconsin Badminton Club is
established for the purpose of promoting participation, competition,
and instruction in the sport of badminton.
Article I
Membership is open to all UW-Madison students, faculty, and staff.
Article II
Elected officers shall be a President, Membership Director, Treasurer,
Equipment manager, and Club manager. One person may simultaneously
hold two offices.
A. The President shall:
1. Call and preside at general and special meetings.
2. Coordinate club activities and appoint committees deemed necessary.
3. Attend Sports Club Council meetings and present the Council with
required forms: constitution, roster, applications for membership, budget
requests, and semester reports.
4. Prepare and post an agenda for each general meeting.
B. The Membership Director shall:
1. Promote the club in order to increase membership
2. Collect dues and deposit them to the club account.
3. Prepare a membership list and distribute it to the members.
4. Maintain the club's email list by adding new members and dropping former members.
C. The Treasurer shall:
1. Maintain club financial records and have them available at club meetings.
2. Process all monetary transactions after approval of the President.
3. Report at each general meeting any transactions and cash-on-hand.
D. The Equipment Manager shall manage club equipment for club use; and
sell and purchase supplies and equipment for students and club members.
E. The Club Manager shall manage the club practice time.
Article III - Finances
A. Dues and fees shall be set by a majority of the members at a general meeting.
B. Disbursements shall be approved by a majority of the members
present at a general meeting.
Article IV - Meetings
A. General meetings may be called by the president or other officer.
B. A meeting shall be announced at least one week in advance by a
posting on the badminton bulletin board outside gym 2 of Unit II.
C. Basic parliamentary procedures shall be applied to all business meetings.
Article V - Elections
A. Elections shall take place at a general meeting and shall be
announced at least one week in advance.
B. Officers shall be elected by a majority of the members present
at the general meeting. They shall assume office at the conclusion
of the meeting at which they are elected.
C. Elections may be called by the President or by a majority of
members present at a general meeting for the next meeting or held
automatically one year after the previous full-slate elections.
Article VI - Ammendments
The Constitution may be amended by a two-thirds
majority vote of members present at a general meeting.
